Logo-less

This is a bold move

No Golden Arches, no clown with giant feet, and only 2 burger options. Over the last few years after what I'm pretty sure was the first time McDonalds didn't profit in a quarter, the company has made an enormous effort to re-brand and reposition themselves in a new marketplace. This move in Tokyo is possibly the biggest move thus far. This new Quarter Pounder store front, offers just Quarter Pounders and Double Quarter Pounders, a clean black, red and white fit out, even with new food packaging. Check out the website - quarter-pounder.net

2 stores both open 24 hours, one on Omotesando and the other in Shibuya East. I'll make sure to check for it when in Tokyo in just over a week.

This is not a fashon blog

but I had to post these!

Vans Jason Jesse Sk8 High. The leather looks great. Details:

The funny thing here is in the heel. They've changed the shape a bit and it's now very reminiscent of a Visvim Logan High

which I guess is completely fine as the Logan in High, Mid and Low is Vans inspired anyway right?

Art in NY

I was pretty excited to find out recently that two artists I really like have exhibitions on while I'm in New York

The first is Ari Marcopoulos' Fear God

The Project
Midtown

This should be great. I was exposed to Ari's work through Supreme a few years ago and have loved it since.

37 West 57th Street, 3rd Floor, 212-688-1589
November 6 - December 19, 2008
Opening: Thursday, November 6, 6 - 8PM

The other is a Basquiat exhibition an Van De Weghe Fine Art's Madison Avenue location

Basquiat
1018 Madison
November 8 - December 20, 2008

I believe this is the inaugural exhibition at this location

The best part is they're a half hour or so walk from each other through Central Park.

I think I'll have to go on the 18th or 19th

In exactly 2 weeks...

... I'll be in the air and on the way to Tokyo for the first leg of the trip.

Here is the planned route:

To say I'm excited is an understatement.

Haven't yet figured out whether I'll post images on here or we'll do a group blog.

Obligatory Obama Post

I love that photo. I'm not entirely sure why, the lighting and position sure but maybe because it makes them come across as normal people. Plus it's a scenario I can see myself in.

Change, hope, etc. Sure it's all great to believe and yes Obama was the lesser of two evils in many ways but this is Politics remember.

Congratulations to the next President and First Lady.

I hope one gets to me before I leave

Tokyo Bound

I should be asleep or writing final essays but In 2 weeks and a day I leave for a huge trip that'll have me touching down in many places I've never been and some I feel the need to always be in.

First stop is Tokyo! Dave touched down on the weekend, see you in a couple mate.
